In September 2014, the Social Security Administration (SSA) began mailing statements to people ages 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, and 60 and over, who weren’t already receiving benefits. Beginning January 9, 2017, the SSA will only mail statements to people age 60 and over who are not already getting benefits and don’t have an online my Social Security account. Statements are typically mailed three months prior to the recipient’s birthday.
