At Meld Financial, our team approach is the bedrock of how we serve the families that trust us with their life savings. We’ve carefully curated a roster of tax, legal, and investment professionals that give our clients the best chance of financial success, and we are so proud of the team we have created.

Today, however, that team looks a little different. We are announcing the retirement of one of our longest-tenured and most beloved staff members, Patricia “Pat” Burris, CFP®.

After a career spanning over 40 years – more than 25 of which were spent here at Meld – Pat officially stepped into her “next chapter” at the end of 2025. We will miss her invaluable experience in the office, but we are thrilled to see her enjoy the very milestone she helped so many others achieve.

Pat’s Early Years at Meld

Pat joined Meld in 1997, when the financial industry was changing rapidly and our firm was growing to meet the evolving needs of our clients. She quickly became a cornerstone of our operations, serving as the Vice President of Corporate and Retirement Plan Services.

In 2002, Pat earned the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® designation, which was a testament to her technical knowledge and strong ethical standards. She became known throughout our community for her comprehensive understanding of financial topics, her calm approach to problem solving, and a level of follow-through that is rare in any industry.

A Decade of Guiding Clients Through the “Maze”

Pat’s legacy over the last decade of her career was defined by her deep experience with two complex retirement hurdles – Social Security and Medicare. She worked directly with clients as they navigated the “maze” of paperwork that comes with reaching retirement age, and later, she stepped into a consulting role as our resident Social Security and Medicare Specialist.

In addition to working with Meld clients, Pat provided education to a broad range of community members and pre-retirees across the country. She hosted numerous webinars and live events to share her specialized knowledge and her personal experience with government benefits.

These events provided the foundational knowledge that many retirees needed to navigate Social Security and Medicare, as well as tips and tricks that can only come from someone with her level of experience. We are so proud of Pat’s commitment to ongoing learning and the impact that she’s had on the lives of our clients and community.

What Our Staff Say About Pat

If you’ve visited our office in the past three decades, you know Pat’s presence helped shape the spirit of collaboration and client-centric culture of our firm. In fact, her colleagues continue to honor her, not just for the myriad ways she helped clients, but for the totality of her character. To illustrate, here’s a sample of opinions from our team:

“If Pat said she’d handle it, you could stop worrying. She’s the definition of dependable.”

“Pat made complicated things feel manageable, especially for clients navigating Medicare and Social Security. That’s a gift.”

“Pat has been a valued friend to many at Meld, and her presence has shaped the culture of the office in the best way.”

As these statements illustrate, Pat leaves behind a firm that is stronger, kinder, and more deeply committed to the people we serve – thanks to her dedicated service over the years.

Pat’s Next Chapter of Family, Community, and Travel

Pat and her husband, Pete, are looking forward to a slower pace of life filled with relaxation, family, and volunteering. You may see her around the community enjoying the lake life or volunteering with Meals on Wheels. When you do, say hello!

With family in Ohio and a love of adventure, Pat will also be enjoying the freedom to say “yes” to trips without checking the calendar. In essence, Pat will be living the dream she helped so many others to achieve.

Remembering Pat’s Legacy at Meld

Pat leaves big shoes to fill at our firm. Fortunately, she also leaves a legacy of knowledge that was passed to our team through years of coaching and collaboration.

While everyone on our team will miss Pat terribly, we are thrilled to see her move to the next phase of her life and enjoy a well-deserved break. We look forward to seeing her around Birmingham, even if we’ll be a little jealous of her new lake life!
